A passport that's still valid can already be too short for travel.

That's 180 days away. Your August trip needs 6 months of validity in many countries. Start the renewal journey: checklist, documents, appointment link.
Why it matters
Many countries expect it to be valid for months after you arrive, and renewing takes an appointment plus processing time. Raaya's Deadlines agent starts reminding you 180 days before the expiry date, so neither catches you out.
When should you renew your passport?
Earlier than the expiry date suggests. Many countries require your passport to be valid for 6 months beyond your stay; for the Schengen area it must generally be valid at least 3 months after you plan to leave and have been issued within the last 10 years. Some airlines refuse boarding if the rule isn't met.
Renewal itself takes time: an appointment at the passport office or consulate, then processing and delivery, which can take several weeks and longer in busy seasons. Check the issuing authority's current times.
That's why a single reminder on the expiry date is useless. You need one when there's still time to plan.
