Why it matters
The date that matters isn't the end of the contract; it's the last day to cancel. Raaya's Deadlines agent works that out, reminds you before it, and has the cancellation letter ready.
How notice periods work
The last day to cancel is the end of the current term minus the notice period. A contract that runs until 28 February with a 3-month notice period must be cancelled so that the cancellation arrives by 30 November. Miss that and many contracts renew for another term.
In Germany (the Kündigungsfrist), consumer contracts concluded since 1 March 2022 that renew automatically after the initial term generally continue indefinitely and can then be cancelled with at most one month's notice. Older contracts can still renew for up to a year at a time with up to three months' notice. Insurance often renews yearly, commonly with three months' notice before the end of the insurance year. Rental agreements have their own rules.
A price increase can also give you a special right to cancel (Sonderkündigungsrecht), for example for energy and telecom contracts. Check your contract and the provider's letter.
